RAF Return to Burn 17th May 2017
by Alastair Mackenzie
The RAF made a return visit to Burn on Wednesday 17th of May 2017. Burn Airfield is now pretty unique as far as WW2 bomber bases stand. Its quite possibly the only one left with all 3 runways pretty much intact after 70+ years. As such its finding favour with the RAF as somewhere they can use for training crews to land on a semi prepared surface. This visit saw 2 Chinooks land at Burn, drop off a scouting patrol of 4 men plus equipment and collect them 2 hours later after their top secret mission was accomplished.
